Significance of energy in the ”post-industrial world” is almost not possible to overemphasize. In the past years we have seen how powerful cities and countries, after only five days without electricity, come to the verge of havoc and have difficulties saving themselves from ”falling into barbarity”. Technological achievements, all those sophisticated devices and interplanetary miracles, without electric power turn into a mere contraption, useful and burdening. Wars in the informatics era are not waged for knowledge or for information, but again for energy. Distribution of world power even today decisively depends on distribution of energy and control over key energy resources.
Exactly the energy, primarily the one ensured by electric power distribution, is one of three or four potential pillars of every serious strategy of economic recovery and development of Serbia. (Along with food production, traffic, tourism...) Therefore, we have dedicated the most space ever to electric power distribution in this edition of National Review. We were there were energy is generated today (Obrenovac, Kostolac, Bajina Bašta...), where it is distributed the best (Novi Sad), where its phenomena are being researched and work practices with it are being improved (Institute „Nikola Tesla”)... We even had insight into old chronicles on the beginning of electric lighting of Serbian areas, at the time when even the millers-visionaries were profoundly changing our lives.
Of course, we did not lack energy for other things that you are used to see between these covers. We bring notes from journeys, photographs, recommendations, reminders, profoundly important examples from culture...
